Isolation and preliminary characterization of new cytochrome c from autotrophic haloalkaliphilic sulfur-oxidizing bacterium Thioalkalivibrio nitratireducens

► The cytochrome с with an unusual spectral characteristic was isolated from haloalkalophile Thioalkalivibrio nitratireducens. ► The new cytochrome has unique amino acid sequence. ► It is the first case describing presence of two heme groups with different paramagnetic state in one cytochrome subunit.
