Functional analysis of the interaction between the mismatch repair protein MutS and the replication processivity factor β clamp in Pseudomonas aeruginosa

► P. aeruginosa MutS interacts with the replication factor β clamp through the QSDLF motif located at the C-terminal domain. ► Mutation of the β clamp binding QSDLF motif does not modify the affinity of MutS for mismatches. ► The MutS-β clamp interaction is not required for the proper function of the methylation-independent MMR of Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
