The effects of homocysteine and folic acid on angiogenesis and VEGF expression during chicken vascular development

► In this study we examine the effects of Hcy and FA on embryonic angiogenesis. ► Extra embryonic vascular development and VEGF expression were determined. ► FA has no significant effect. ► Hcy inhibits angiogenesis, VEGF expression and alters vascular bed composition. ► These effects may be implicated in cardiovascular defects induced by Hcy.
