Nitric oxide-dependent killing of aerobic, anaerobic and persistent Burkholderia pseudomallei

► Burkholderia pseudomallei infections are fastidious to treat with conventional antibiotic therapy. ► B. pseudomallei are extraordinarily susceptible to a variety of NO donors. ► NO kills stationary and log phase, anaerobic and persistent B. pseudomallei. ► NO could be considered as potential treatment to treat melioidosis caused by B. pseudomallei infections.
