Antagonism of the neuropeptide S receptor with RTI-118 decreases cocaine self-administration and cocaine-seeking behavior in rats

► Neuropeptide S (NPS) increases the rewarding effects of cocaine and ethanol. ► NPS receptor antagonists were compared in rat models of cocaine addiction. ► RTI-118 selectively reduced cocaine-taking behavior when compared to SHA-68. ► RTI-118 decreased cocaine-seeking behavior provoked by several different stimuli.
