DOI-induced deficits in prepulse inhibition in Wistar rats are reversed by mGlu2/3 receptor stimulation

►We investigated 5-HT2A and mGlu2/3 receptor interactions in prepulse inhibition. ►The 5-HT2A/2C receptor agonist DOI disrupted prepulse inhibition in Wistar rats. ►Pre-treatment with the mGlu2/3 receptor agonist LY379268 attenuated this effect. ►The data confirm antagonistic interactions between 5-HT2A and mGlu2/3 receptors. ►mGlu2/3 receptor agonists may be useful to attenuate sensorimotor gating deficits.
