Expression of an Acidothermus cellulolyticus endoglucanase in transgenic rice seeds

► The thermostable endo-1,4-β-glucanase (E1) was highly expressed and accumulated in rice seeds. ► The biochemical properties of recombinant E1 in rice seeds is similar to the enzymes produced by native bacterium host. ► Rice seeds could be used as a bioreactor for production of enzymes for industrial applications.
