The role of mast cells in atrial natriuretic peptide-induced cutaneous inflammation

►ANP induces the release of histamine, TNF-α and serotonin in mast cells. ►ANP reduces cAMP level in mast cells. ►ANP evokes tissue swelling and granulocyte infiltration in wild-type mice. ►ANP-induced cutaneous inflammation is suppressed in mast cell-deficient W/Wv mice. ►ANP-induced cutaneous inflammation is restored in BMCMC → W/Wv mice.
