Desarrollo de vacunas frente a sustancias adictivas (I). Vacunas anticocaína

The precursor of the current vaccine was prepared by conjugating succinyl cocaine with bovine serum albumin, and subsequently conjugated to the toxin B subunit from Vibrio cholerae and adding an aluminium adjuvant. This vaccine, called TA-CD, has been tested successfully, first in animals and then in humans, gradually perfecting its composition, initial doses and strength, with promising results. The results of a large clinical trial in cocaine addicts are awaited and, if appropriate, its approval by the FDA and European Agencies.
