Among the reasons for vaccination, the health status and its perception seem to have most influence,as well as confidence in the vaccine effectiveness. The degree of confidence in the vaccine was positively associated with the level of vaccination. Increasing awareness of the utility of the vaccination should be evaluated as a strategy to increase the coverage. The survey showed that although the majority of subjects had heard of avian influenza, this did not influence the decision to be vaccinated against influenza, indicating that health information on this topic has provide, in general, reliable information.
