Evidence for the interaction of d-amino acid oxidase with pLG72 in a glial cell line

► In brain, pLG72 negatively affects the activity of hDAAO, which catabolizes D-serine. ► In this work we studied the subcellular localizations of hDAAO and pLG72 in U87 cells. ► Newly synthesized hDAAO is cytosolic before being delivered to peroxisomes. ► In the cytosol hDAAO is catalytically active and interacts with pLG72. ► pLG72 binding and ensuing hDAAO inactivation protects against D-serine depletion.
