A microscopic description and ultrastructural characterisation of Dientamoeba fragilis: An emerging cause of human enteric disease

► Morphology and ultrastructure of Dientamoeba fragilis are described using the tools of electron microscopy. ► Confocal microscopy shows that the two nuclei of D. fragilis are identical in DNA content. ► The discovery of a Virus-Like Particle (VLP) in D. fragilis is reported for the first time.
