Preprocessing of electrophoretic images in 2-DE analysis

Preprocessing of electrophoretic gel images is an important part of the analysis pipeline of two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2-DE). Preprocessing in 2-DE involves image denoising, background correction and normalisation. In this review we present and discuss methods used for preprocessing of 2-DE images.
