A carboxyl ion implantation-modified indium tin oxide (COOH/ITO) electrode was prepared, and the existence of carboxyl groups on the electrode was verified by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). This modified electrode has been used for the determination of pirarubicin (THP) by cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry. Compared to the bare ITO electrode, the modified electrode exhibited a marked enhancement in the current response. Liner calibration curves are obtained in the range from 6.0 × 10−10 M to 2.5 × 10−8 M and from 1.4 × 10−7 M to 2.8 × 10−6 M with a detection limit of 2 × 10−10 M. The practical analytic utility of the method is illustrated by quantitative determination of THP in water samples.
