Adamantyl-group containing mixed-mode acrylamide-based continuous beds for capillary electrochromatography. Part I: Study of a synthesis procedure including solubilization of N-adamantyl-acrylamide via complex formation with a water-soluble cyclodextrin

► A new synthesis procedure for acrylamide-based continuous beds for CEC is described. ► Hydrophobic monomer is solubilized by complexation with methylated β-cyclodextrin. ► Stoichiometry, c.f. constant and spatial arrangement of complex are investigated. ► Retention factors and αmeth increase with content of N-(1-adamantyl)acrylamide. ► Amphiphilic stationary phase can be used in CEC in the NP- and RP-mode.
