Suppression of hydrogen-oxygen-nitrogen explosions by fine water mist: Part 2. Mitigation of vented deflagrations

► We carry out vented explosion tests of H2/air/N2 mixtures with water mists. ► The flammable region of H2/air/N2 mixes reduces in the presence of fine water mist. ► Together the effect of nitrogen and water mist was greater than either used alone. ► Water mist reduces the rate of pressure rise, consistent with its effect on LBV.
