The crystallographic structures of two different Pt(cyclopentylamine)2Cl2 crystals were found to be disordered. The first compound is the trans isomer, while the second crystal contains both isomers cis- and trans-Pt(cyclopentylamine)2Cl2. In the trans molecules the two amines are on the same side of the Pt(II) plane to maximize the H-bonds, while in the cis compound the two ligands are on opposite sides. The reactions of the antitumor complexes cis-Pt(amine)2X2 and cis-Pt(NH3)(amine)X2 (LÂ =Â cyclobutylamine and cyclopentylamine) with guanosine and other bases were studied by multinuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy.
