Supramolecular diversity and magnetic properties of novel heterometallic Cu(II)/Cr(III) complexes prepared from copper powder, Reineckes salt and ethylenediamine

Three novel heterometallic Cu(II)/Cr(III) complexes which reveal two- or three-dimensional H-bonded assemblies formed by polymeric cationic chains ⋯-NCS-Cu(en)2-SCN-Cr(NCS)2(NH3)2-⋯ or pentanuclear cations [{Cu(en)2}3{Cr(NCS)4(NH3)2}2(NCS)2]2+ have been prepared from elemental copper and magnetostructurally characterized.
