Ligand effects in cis-RuII(N-N)2L2 species where N-N is a substituted 2,2′-bisoxazoline and L is monodentate

From the Ru(II/III) potentials in cis-Ru(4,4,4′,4′-tetramethyl-2,2′-bisoxazoline)2L2 type systems with L = Cl−, Br−, I−, SCN−, N3- and MeCN, it is concluded that 2,2′-bisoxazoline, a non-aromatic diimine, is a stronger π-acid than 2,2′-bipyridine.
