The nature of M-O bond in MOX4 compounds (MÂ =Â Os, Ru; XÂ =Â F, Cl, Br, I)

Computational methods were used to describe the M-O bonding. The bond is essentially a triple bond, although very polarized. A clear difference was found between the Os and Ru in the polarization of the σ bond.
