Cationic (tripyrrinato)palladium(II) complexes

The formation of sterically hindered cationic palladium(II)complexes [TrpyPdIIL]+ X− by salt metathesis of the respective trifluoroacetates with different salts of weakly coordinating anions X− and different C, N and P donor ligands L was investigated. Strongly distorted structures of four coordinate compounds were usually obtained, and a stable five coordinate PdII species was found with L = PMe3.
