Exploitation of interesting As–V–O cluster and transition metal complexes to construct extended framework has resulted in the four novel compounds [Zn(en)2][(H2O)Zn(en)2As8IIIV14IVO42(H2O)]·H2O(1), [(H2O)Zn(1,10-phen)2]2[As8IIIV14IVO42(H2O)]·4H2O(2), [{(H2O)Zn(2,2′-bpy)2}{Zn(2,2′-bpy)2}As8IIIV14IVO42(H2O)0.5]2[{(H2O)Zn(2,2′-bpy)2As8IIIV14IVO42(H2O)0.5}2{Zn(2,2′-bpy)2}2]·3H2O(3), and [(H2O)Zn(4,4′-bpy)]2[As8IIIV14IVO42(H2O)]·2H2O(4) (en = ethylenediamine, phen = phenanthroline and bipy = bipyridine) under mild hydrothermal conditions and characterized by IR, XPS, TGA, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The main structural feature of these compounds is the presence of [As8IIIV14IVO42] as inorganic building block, on which the zincorganic blocks are supported. Different bidentate organodiamine ligands are used in the four reaction systems, which are responsible for the variety of structures. Furthermore, the electrochemical properties of these compounds have been studied via the method of bulk-modified carbon paste electrodes.
Four new zero-, dimmer and layer structures of organic–inorganic hybrids constructed from the surface restricted [As8IIIV14IVO42]4- building block and zinc coordination groups have been obtained by using different organic ligands, en, 1,10-phen, 2,2′-bipy and 4,4′-bipy.Figure optionsDownload as PowerPoint slide
