The reaction of [Ru3(CO)12] with 1,4-benzoquinone, in a hydrogen atmosphere led to the formation of a product with the formula [(μ-H)Ru3(CO)10(μ2-O–C6H4OH)] which crystallizes with two molecules of free hydroquinone in the asymmetric unit with which it forms an arrangement of hydrogen bridges leading to a layered structure of trinuclear metallic and hydroquinone fragments. Electrochemical studies showed that electrode inhibition is obtained by cycling of the oxidation process of this compound.
The structure of compound [(μ-H)Ru3(CO)10(μ2-O–C6H4OH)] shows it to co-crystallize with two molecules of free hydroquinone forming a layered structure of trinuclear metallic and hydroquinone fragments.Figure optionsDownload as PowerPoint slideHighlights
