Absorption, electrochemical, theoretical, and 73Ge NMR spectral characterization of the germanium neo-pentane analogue (Me3Ge)4Ge

► (Me3Ge)4Ge has been characterized by CV and UV/visible spectroscopy. ► The CV and UV/vis data agree with the HOMO and LUMO energies calculated by DFT. ► The 73Ge NMR spectrum of (Me3Ge)4Ge has a far-upfield peak for the central Ge.
