Synthesis, X-ray and spectroscopic analysis of 2-hydrazino-6-methyl-4-(methoxymethyl)-5-nitropyridine-3-carbonitrile

► Pyridine derivative 2 was synthesized by novel protocol. ► It is characterized by X-ray diffraction, FT-IR, FT-R, NMR and UV-Vis spectroscopy. ► Supramolecular structure contains NH⋯N, two NH⋯O and CH⋯O hydrogen bond. ► FT-IR dilution experiments confirmed the presence of intermolecular hydrogen bonds.
