N–H⋯O hydrogen bonding: FT IR, NIR and 1H NMR study of N-methylpropionamide – Cyclic ether systems

The paper reports the results of FT IR, NIR and 1H NMR study of N-methylpropionamide (NMP) in carbon tetrachloride solution and in presence of cyclic ethers as the O-electron donors: tetrahydrofuran (THF) and tetrahydropyran (THP). The spectroscopic characteristics for N–H⋯O hydrogen bonded complexes are given. Also, the equilibrium constants for 1:1 complex formation, at 25 °C were determined using IR, NIR and 1H NMR measurements.
