Synthesis of α-mercury sulfide nanosheets from (1,10-phenanthroline)bis(1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinolinecarbodithioato-S,S′)mercury(II)

- Complex 1 was prepared and characterized by IR, NMR and X-ray diffraction.
- Complex 1 was used as single source precursor for the preparation of α-HgS.
- 2 min Preparation of high-quality hexagonal shaped α-HgS nanosheets was reported.
- Optical and structural properties of as-prepared α-HgS were evaluated.
- Quantum confinement effect was confirmed by UV visible spectroscopy.
