Crystal and molecular structure of four 1:1 adducts from 2-methylquinoline and different acidic components

► Four 2-methylquinoline derived compounds were synthesized and structurally characterized. ► The role of weak and strong noncovalent interactions in the crystal packing is ascertained. ► All compounds involve extensive classical hydrogen bonds as well as noncovalent interactions. ► The noncovalent interactions are sufficient to bring about the formation of acid-base adducts. ► 2D-3D framework structures can be constructed by the collective weak interactions.
