A three-dimensional framework constructed from gadolinium(III) and molybdenum through linkage of pyridine-2,5-dicarboxylate groups

A new gadolinium–molybdenum-organic compound, [Gd(H2O)6Mo2O6(Hpydc)(pydc)]·H2O 1 (H2pydc = pyridine-2,5-dicaroxylic acid), has been synthesized hydrothermally and characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The structure characterization reveals that 1 consists of GdIII and MoVI centers linked via oxygen atoms and H2pydc ligands, forming a 3D network with channels occupied by water molecules.
