Hydrodynamic and conformational parameters of chitosane

Anomalous low values of the exponent a (0·15–0·30) and the high values of [ν] (3·5–7·0) for dilute acid solutions of chitosanes with Mw = 12−170×103 have been accounted for on the basis of an assumed quasi globular structure of macromolecules densified by a system of intramolecular H bonds, and by assuming that there are intermolecular hydrogen bridges.
