A β metastable titanium alloy Ti5Al4Zr4Mo2Cr2Sn1Fe with an initial duplex structure was thermally treated to produce a wide range of microstructure. The effect of individual microstructural parameters on deformation behavior and mechanical properties was investigated. The results show that the α laths in as-received condition can effectively improve the strength and plasticity for the alloy. In α+β solution treatment, a decrease in the volume fraction and size of the globular α phase does not result in a significant change in mechanical properties. A large decrease in failure strain occurs after excursions above the β-tansus. The development of acicular α phase in β+(α+β) solution treatment leads to a continuous decline in strength but with no loss in plasticity. Samples with aging schedule possess a better comprehensive properties than the others.
