Accumulative roll bonding is the only severe plastic deformation process for the industrial production of ultrafine grained sheets with desirable mechanical properties. In the present study, the accumulative roll bonding process was used to fabricate Al/nanosilica nanocomposites consisting of aluminum 1050 alloy sheets and silica nanoparticles, at ambient temperature. The corrosion properties of the produced sheets with/without the nanoparticles were investigated and compared to the aluminum sheet. The results show that as a result of accumulative roll bonding, the general corrosion resistance of the specimens decreases, compared to the Al plate. Also, it was found that by increasing accumulative roll bonding cycles and the amount of the silica nanoparticles, the corrosion resistance of the produced nanocomposites increases.
