Novel opto-magnetic silicate glass with semiconductor EuS nanocrystals

► Magneto-optical silica glass with semiconductor EuS nanocrystals is synthesized by the hydrolysis reaction with a ligand exchange process. ► Silica framework around EuS NCs provides thermo-stable structure under 500 °C. ► EuS/silica glass material shows effective magneto-optical properties, Faraday rotation, in the visible region (400-700 nm).
