A novel magnetic annealing assisted route was applied to improve the electrochemical properties of La0.67Mg0.33Ni3.0. The effects of magnetic annealing parameters, including annealing temperature, annealing time and magnetic induction density, on electrochemical performance of La0.67Mg0.33Ni3.0 hydride electrode alloys was investigated using L9 orthogonal array based on Taguchi method. Based on the analysis of signal to noise ratio and the variance, the optimum magnetic annealing parameters for La0.67Mg0.33Ni3.0 hydride electrode alloy are determined to be 1 T, 1123 K, and 2 h. A confirmation test was conducted subsequently, and the results were found to be within the confidence interval. The discharge capacity, the cyclic stability and the electrochemical kinetics of the alloy electrode were noticeably improved by magnetic annealing.
