Effect of carbon nanoparticles addition on the mechanical properties of an aluminum composite prepared by mechanical milling and leaching process

► The surface area of graphite particles was increased using a combined milling-leaching process. ► Microscopy studies showed a uniform dispersion of graphite nanoparticles into the Al matrix. ► The mechanical response of the specimens was modified with the addition of graphite nanoparticles. ► Optimum response in samples was reached with low graphite addition and medium milling intensities.
