Spectroscopic analysis of Nd3+:Ca3Gd2(BO3)4 crystal and laser operating at 1.06 μm

► We presented the growth process of high quality Nd3+:Ca3Gd2(BO3)4 single crystal. ► The spectroscopy analysis was done along different axes. ► The laser output power at 1062 nm was obtained to be 62 mJ. ► The low efficiency was ascribed to the influence of phonon energy.
