Submicron-sized LiV3O8 cathode materials were synthesized using a low-temperature reaction route with the help of grinding and the following calcination. A mixture of Li(ac)·2H2O(ac = acetate), NH4VO3 and excess H2C2O4·2H2O was used as starting material without any solvent. Characterization results of X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), charge–discharge test, and cyclic voltammogram (CV) indicated that the sample heat-treated at 350 °C shows the best electrochemical performance. This low-temperature reaction route is a simple but efficient synthesis route for preparing high-performance LiV3O8 cathode material.
