Small-angle neutron scattering study of soot particles in an ethylene–air diffusion flame

Neutron scattering techniques have been applied to the study soot particles in an ethylene diffusion flame. Primary particle sizes have been determined as a function of height-above-the-burner. The practicality of the method has been demonstrated.
