Peristaltic motion of a magnetohydrodynamic micropolar fluid in a tube

This study is concerned with the magnetohydrodynamic flow of a micropolar fluid in a circular cylindrical tube. The equations governing the flow are modeled using the assumptions of long wavelength and low Reynolds number. It is found that the governing equations are coupled partial differential equations for the flow velocity and the microrotation. The finite difference scheme is used to integrate the equations and the results are graphically presented and discussed. Special emphasis is given to the effects of micropolar fluid parameters, tube wall peristaltic amplitude and magnetic parameter on the transverse profiles of velocity and microrotation as well as pumping characteristics and trapping phenomena.
