Concordance between expert judgment and fish-based multimetric indices in the assessment of estuarine waters ecological quality

► We analyzed EQS of estuaries made by experts and using a fish-based index. ► Estuarine ecological assessments did by experts generally agree. ► Levels of agreement between experts and EQS obtained using the EFAI were high. ► The concordance between expert assessments increased with the number of criteria used.
