Oil and gas flow from the reservoir to the wellbore via perforated sections of the well. Various models are available in the literature to simulate the relation between the flow rate and pressure drop in this section of the wells. These models are developed and tested in the laboratory, but validation of them in field applications is questionable. This problem is more noticeable in complex cases such as gas condensate wells. In this research, field data for gas condensate wells were used to verify the validity of different methods for calculation of pressure drop in the perforated sections of the pipes. Our calculations showed the accuracy of different available methods to calculate pressure drop in gas condensate wells.
► Gas and liquid flow pattern in the well bore are affected by numerous parameters which are axial and inflow gas and liquid flow rate, fluid inflow distribution, pipe inclination, perforation geometry, density and phasing.
► In this study, three main models which are more applicable for prediction of pressure drop in perforated section of the pipe were studied. The goal of this study is field validation of these models.
► The field production logging data from different wells from an Iranian gas condensate reservoir were used to verify the validity of mentioned models for prediction of pressure drop in perforated walls.
