DEM simulation of rotation-induced reshaping and disruption of rubble-pile asteroids

► We model “rubble-pile” asteroids as self-gravitating granular aggregates using a SSDEM code. ► Spherical and ellipsoidal aggregates are spun-up beyond disruption. ► The presence or lack of friction produces different reshaping/disruption phenomena. ► Drucker-Prager yield stress criterion most consistently describes the reshaping process.
