Direct comparison of nonmigrating tidal signatures in the electrojet, vertical plasma drift and equatorial ionization anomaly

► DE2/DE3 nonmigrating tides cause longitudinal modulations of ionospheric quantities. ► The EEJ shows the same annual variation of DE2/DE3 tides as the zonal wind at MLT. ► The EIA responds to the tidal input 2 h later than the plasma drift. ► DE2/DE3 tidal signals appear in ionospheric quantities only during daytime.
