Variation between near-surface and columnar aerosol characteristics during the winter and summer at Delhi in the Indo-Gangetic Basin

► Difference in surface and column aerosol behavior during winter and summer is explained. ► Vertical velocity revealed downdraft during winter and updraft during summer. ► AOD is high in summer than winter but surface aerosol concentrations show reverse. ► Reff for surface aerosols increases about three times from winter to summer.
