Observational evidence of deep convection over Indonesian sector in relation with major stratospheric warming events of 2003-04 and 2005-06

▶ No relationship between equatorial zonal mean OLR and SSW 2003-04 and 2005-06. ▶ These SSW events were accompanied by enhanced equatorial convection over Indonesia. ▶ High values of potential vorticity intrusions converge in the 90°E-150°E band. ▶ Upper tropospheric EP flux convergence at latitudes < 20°N on peak SSW days. ▶ Vertical winds computed from the convergence of momentum flux are upward.
