Ionospheric responses to two large geomagnetic storms over Japanese and Indian longitude sectors

► Ionospheric response is studied using ground-, space- and model-based data. ► Expansion and intensification of the EIA is observed. ► A disturbed meridional wind shows equatorward propagation. ► The ionosphere over Japanese and Indian longitude sectors responded nearly equally. ► Ionospheric irregularities found at anomaly crest region.
