Role of characteristic modes in the dynamics of wave pattern in the Czochralski oxide crystal growth

► The wave pattern were studied by proper orthogonal decomposition. ► The characteristic modes of wave pattern can be grouped. ► The characteristic modes show more folds than the original folded wave pattern. ► The number of folds in the characteristic modes increases regularly. ► The wave pattern can be attributed to the traveling wave behavior.
