Ultrasound electrochemical determination of chemical oxygen demand using boron-doped diamond electrode

This work focuses on the determination of chemical oxygen demand (COD) using boron-doped diamond (BDD) electrode with ultrasound (US). US has remarkable influence on electrochemical determination of COD including improving the sensitivity of degradation efficiency, accelerating the mass transfer process and expanding measurement range. The new method requires no toxic reagents, costs less analysis time and the operation is simple. A linear range of 0 to 23200 mg·l- 1 COD and a low detection limit of 0.192 mg·l-1 COD are well established with the present approach. The COD value of the simulated organic wastewater determined by this method agrees well with the standard dichromate method, and it shows great accuracy, stability and reproducibility.
