Calorimetric studies of Se75Te15Cd10 and Se75Te10Cd10In5 multicomponent chalcogenide glasses

The crystallization kinetics of Se75Te10Cd10In5 multi-component chalcogenide glass was investigated using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) at different heating rates of 5, 10, 15 and 20 K/min. The average activation energy of crystallization and the activation energy of glass transition were found to be 102.3 and 124.2 kJ/mol, respectively. The Se75Te10Cd10In5 multi-component chalcogenide glass is more stable than Se75Te15Cd10 ternary glass. The non-integer value of the Avrami index (n=2.02) indicates that volume nucleation and one-dimensional growth are occurring in amorphous-crystalline transformations.
