►Nickel malonate dihydrate crystals were grown in silica gel by diffusion method. ►The crystal was subjected to thermal and dielectric studies. ►Thermograms reveal the presence of two water molecules in the crystal. ►The material exhibits a steady thermal behavior at high temperature range 350-800° C. ►The low dielectric values of the title compound indicate that the crystal is promising dielectric material in microelectronics industry.
